Large wardrobe: 100 outfits from 31 pieces.

A maximalist or large wardrobe doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a huge amount of clothes, but a lot of outfits.

By comparison with other wardrobes, it does have more clothes. But not as many as you’d imagine. How do 100 outfits sound? You can get them with only 15 tops, 6 bottoms, and 10 dresses. See the video below to understand how to do it.

Every wardrobe should be as unique as you and your life. If you’d like to make your wardrobe a stress-free resource for all your personal style needs, I would recommend taking the Wonder Wardrobe Course.

Turn your closet into a modern, stylish, ready-to-wear wardrobe.

Maximalist Wonder Wardrobe.

One of the questions I get the pleasure of answering most often is if the Wonder Wardrobe method can be applied to a large wardrobe. So let's dive into that, shall we?

What is a large wardrobe?

We understand it as a wardrobe that doesn’t consist of a few pieces. How many - we can’t say - as everyone has their own life and their own wardrobe needs. Shopping too much can lead to a large wardrobe, full of unwearable clothes.

My advice is that when you do go shopping for new clothes, you have a clear inventory of what's already in your closet. An easy, classic way to keep your shopping in check with your closet is to have a visual guide of all your clothes, shoes etc.

You're not doing yourself a favor by going shopping on impulse. You will realise post-shopping that once you have worn your new clothes once or twice, their appeal has diminished, and now you're just contributing to more fashion waste.

We all want to feel like we are well dressed every day. Making sense of your closet every day can start with your life style needs.

That's why today I'd like to show you an example of how fashion style, color palette, and the right amount of clothes can create the right number of combinations for your own capsule wardrobe.

Maximalist Wardrobe: More Outfits OR More Clothes?

All of us have clothes in our closets. Some have more than others, and that’s ok. When we get dressed we put clothes together in an outfit that is appropriate to how we want to be perceived.

The more combinations we can wear with the clothes we have in our closets, the better. Our personal style is the main driver when deciding how much clothing you have in your closet.

This means that a maximalist or large wardrobe is one that offers a ton of options.

It can have one overall style or a combination of fashion styles, as long as it gives you plenty of options to wear whenever you open your closet.

That is the main benefit of having a large closet. And that’s ok. Not everyone can afford or find suitable a capsule wardrobe comprised of let’s say only 20 outfits. It’s up to each of us to decide what our lifestyle needs are.

How to Create a Capsule Wardrobe that Has 100 Outfits.

Whenever you are about to create a capsule wardrobe, be it for a season like work or for a vacation you need to calculate the number of outfits.

A wardrobe that offers a lot of options, by using as many tops and bottoms as possible. How many outfits would you say you need? 30? 40? How about 100!!!

Yes, that’s right, 100 outfits. How many tops and how many bottoms can mix and match in to get a 100 outfit closet?

Think about how many tops and bottoms do you currently have in yours.

This capsule example was created for the Spring colour type. The style is a Classic-romantic one.

The secret here is to pay special attention to what items you include so you can get outfits for different occasions. Some are great for work, some are for leisure time.

In essence, this maximalist closet consists of only 15 tops, 6 bottoms and 10 dresses.

How many individual clothes do you need to create maximalist capsule wardrobes?

As you can see, you only need 31 pieces in total! When I mix them together I get 100 outfits. Are 100 outfits enough for a season?

We have 90 days in a season, which means you will never wear the same outfit twice.

When everything fits together this well and is interchangeable, the outfit options increase considerably and the costs decrease.

So what do you think? What makes a maximalist closet?

Are your capsule wardrobes out of control when only a few clothes mix and match?

Or is it a wardrobe where everything matches so well together that the outfit options increase exponentially?
