Dresses & Skirts Spring Capsule Wardrobe: 18 Outfit Ideas

A while ago I tried to settle a debate regarding a dress & skirts only capsule wardrobe.

I think it went well for summer outfits, but it’s time to revisit it and offer you some ideas on cute spring outfits based on dresses and skirts.

In this new video, I’ll show you how to create a capsule wardrobe with 18-20 outfits using 10 dresses, 4 tops, and 2 skirts.

When it comes to making casual spring outfits that turn heads but keep you warm, a blazer or a leather jacket might come in handy.

That’s the beauty of the Wonder Wardrobe Method, you buy less and wear more. More exciting outfits, and less time spent second-guessing yourself are just a few of the closet improvements students get.

Whenever I start a new capsule I have a specific woman in mind. So figuring out her color palette is first on my list. And that’s because I want the attention to fall on her, not her clothes.

Cute spring outfits start with the right colors

If you start like this, it will help you focus when searching for clothes and, of course, it will make your capsule wardrobe more cohesive and personal.

In this particular case I’ll use the Winter color type palette. I’d like to play with the color blue, and use the right shades for a Winter type.

I will also add a few color accents which should help to make the outfits look less repetitive.

Spring Capsule Overview

The final capsule wardrobe includes 10 dresses, 4 tops, 2 skirts, 2 jackets, 1 coat, 2 pairs of shoes and 2 bags.

When I combine all these items together I get at least 18 fully interchangeable outfits in a creative-casual style.

This is why the essence of Wonder Wardrobe is buy less, wear more! When you have great ready-made outfits, you end up saving a ton of money.

How to pick the right dress and skirt for your cute outfits

I have intentionally selected dresses with different designs, colors, sleeve types, and skirt lengths to keep the outfits exciting over time.

Certain dresses are ideal for professional settings, such as work or important meetings, while others can be dressed down for casual outings or weekend getaways.

For example, this simple dress can be even worn only at home. If you add a cool leather jacket, it’s a great option for a walk in a park.

Of course, accessorising appropriately can transform some dresses into party-ready looks.

Tops and skirts make a great spring outfit!

To avoid a feeling of boredom I also added some tops and skirts. The same as with dresses, the skirts have quite a different design. The lengths and textures of both look great with all the tops and create another 8 additional outfits.

The right coat brings your spring outfits together and keeps you warm. To add a pop of color and to blend in with the blooming flowers in early spring, I added this gorgeous pink coat.

The length of the coat is perfect for the midi dresses as well as shorter skirt lengths. It’s made out of thin wool so it won’t be too warm to wear on a sunny day. If your springs are quite warm, you could go with a long cardigan instead in your spring capsule wardrobe.

The right blazer is a great way to dress up a spring outfit

As all skirts I have here are either knee length or midi, shorter blazers will also fit pretty well and keep the proportions well balanced.

One is a leather jacket and the other one is a wool jacket that is a little more classic in design. I think they both match great in color and style with all the outfits.

Put the finishing touches on your spring capsule wardrobe with the right accessories

I’ve included 2 pairs of shoes and 2 bags in my capsule. To ensure versatility, I made certain that each outfit can be paired with any of these items. This allows for more flexibility in dressing outfits up or down, depending on the occasion or your mood.

As always, WoW students have access to this capsule’s shopping list in our classroom.
