The Coolest Independent Sustainable Fashion Brands
Tired of browsing website after website while searching for the right sustainable fashion brand?
My mobile-optimized shopping guides have the best selection of sustainable clothing brands from the United States, Europe, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
I've also included a special sustainable brand guide that has plus-size clothing for women. All of the plus-size sustainable brands deliver internationally.
As a new addition, I have created a special plus-size shopping guide with sustainable brands that deliver worldwide.
While many of these brands deliver internationally, I would suggest getting a local Shopping Guide to ensure all of them deliver clothes to your country.
To help you find exactly what you want I’ve included different categories for each brand such as price range, size range and a direct link to the store.
The guide also allows you to bookmark your favorite sustainable brands so you can find them faster.
What is a sustainable fashion brand and how do they get included in my Shopping Guides?
To qualify as a sustainable fashion brand that gets included in my guides a brand has to be:
transparent about their supply chain or produce locally in small batches
respect their workers and pay them living wages
use only organic, recycled or deadstock fabrics and materials
work with low-impact chemical dyes or natural dyes
create minimum fashion waste
Sustainable fashion is represented by a lot of slow fashion brands, brands that use recycled materials, circular fashion brands and brands that want to be more ethical than fast fashion. While it’s encouraging that a lot of sustainable clothing brands show us a good way to produce clothing, it is becoming increasingly hard as a fashion enthusiast to find the right one.
Let’s say you’re looking for vegan shoes or a wool sweater. You will be faced with a lot of sustainable shoe brands from local shops to international brands. How do you know that they use vegan leather or simply do what they promise? How do you know that they deliver to your country? Do they treat their workers fairly?
To answer all of these important questions, I went beyond doing my research. My personal styling clients have tested these brands. If they haven’t, my students have tried them. I wear some of these sustainable brands on a weekly basis.
My Shopping Guides are well-researched and curated even though none of these sustainable fashion brands have paid me to include them here. And I will keep it that way.
There are certain sustainability indicators that I look for as a personal shopper and I hold these brands to a high standard, so you can just focus on finding the right thing for your fashion style and budget.
